Revised Morphia Law.
297
(1) For manufacture of or trade in morphia, for receiving
it with intent to trade, or for importing from abroad, penalty:- Penal servitude 2nd or 3rd degree and fine not exceeding $3,000.
(2) For manufacture of or trade in instruments for morphia injection, for receiving them with intent to trade, or for importing from abroad, penalty:- Penal servitude 3rd or 5th degree and fine not exceeding $1,000.
(3) Customs officers or their assistants importing morphia or conniving at import by others: Penal servitude 1st or 2nd degree and fine not exceeding $2,000.
(4) For giving injections as a business:- Penal servitude 2nd to 4th degree and fine not exceeding $500.
(5) For hiring persons to give injections or giving injections to oneself:- Penal servitude or confinement not exceeding the 4th degree.
In all above cases penalty shall be two degrees more severe for second and three degrees more severe for third
offence.
(6) Receiving of morphia injection instruments: Confinement or fine not exceeding $100.
(7) Pending the promulgation of the law governing manufacture of drugs, this law shall apply to cocaine, heroin and (7)
strychnine.
(8) For cultivating leaves for manufacture of cocaine:-
Penal servitude 3rd or 4th degree with or without fine not
exceeding $2,000. For selling cocaine seeds with view to
manufacture of cocaine:- Penal servitude 4th degree or confinemer t with or without fine not exceeding $1,000 or fine only.
